In the Coastal Zone of Zeewolde a unique tulip shaped island has been created for the benefit of future catering, tourism and water sports.
The calyx of the tulip, the main island, is approximately the size of a football field; a string of 3 elongated nature islands form the stem. A dam of 200 meters connects the island to the mainland. In the future, Tulip Island will provide opportunities for the hotel and catering industry, tourism and water sports. In the calyx of the tulip eventually a marina will be created with approximately 80 moorings for recreational use by sailors and other pleasure craft.
Thanks to its unique shape, the island is outstanding both from the air and on chart.
